What is Grounding?
Grounding is an exercise that connects you energetically to the earth. It allows you to be more authentically in your body, in the present moment, and receive nourishing energy. Grounding allows your body to use all your talents and gifts, know their value in the world and give birth to your visions and goals.
Being ungrounded makes it harder to create and achieve what you desire
It keeps you unfocused, easily distracted, in chaos, feeling anxious, powerless and unsafe.
You may be thinking, you’re naturally in your body and gravity has you connected to the earth. Doesn’t that mean that you’re grounded? The answer is Yes and No!
Have you noticed when you can’t concentrate that you feel spacey and out of your body? Like you aren’t relating or functioning as well as you’d like to on the physical level? It takes a lot to recover to being present and alert.
Being ungrounded may feel like you don’t have a foundation to stand on
Being ungrounded can make you feel like you are out of control and anxious, because you are easily influenced by your environment and other people’s feelings.
Some of you are thinkers and not feelers so you are in your head more than you are in your body. You think about your feelings rather than feel them. This means you are ungrounded.
Take Action If You Are Ungrounded
Being ungrounded is unnecessary and is totally preventable. So what action could you take to ensure you stay grounded and healthy?
Whenever possible, walk barefoot on the earth in a garden or park, or go for a barefoot walk on a beach, to achieve earthing.
Emotional grounding is important, and walking in the water will aid your emotional body as well.
As you do this, you release energy from your body, and it is transformed into earth energy when you discharge it into the earth below your feet.
Using Gemstones to Ground Yourself
There are a number of high vibrational gemstones you can use to help ground yourself. When you hold one of these stones in your hand, for even a minute, you are likely to feel the connection to the earth. Many people wear their gemstones as jewelry.
- Black Tourmaline is a stone that is highly recommended that you keep on you or close by at all times, for both grounding and protection. This is especially important as in addition it also has a strong vibration to aid psychic protection, as well as being one of the strongest grounding stones.
- Black Tourmalinated Quartz has similar qualities, and the addition of the quartz makes these powerful stones to bring light into your auric field, to aid your light body.
- Other powerful grounding stones included: Black Obsidian, Black Onyx, Bloodstone, Dalmatian Jasper, Fancy Jasper, Fire Agate, Hematite, Red Jasper, Moss Agate, Shungite, Smokey Quartz, Tiger Eye and Turquoise are all excellent stones to keep on your person to assist with grounding.
Whichever stone you choose, just ensure that you keep one of these stones either within your aura, or have them close by so you can employ them when required. That way if you do become ungrounded you may use them to aid in balancing you more quickly.
How to Do a Grounding Meditation
When you are not able to get outside or ground yourself to the earth for any reason, do a grounding meditation.
Relaxing...centering... grounding... very important actions for your overall well-being. Go within, become centered, and then follow through with the visualization in the following grounding meditation.
A most effective grounding meditation involves using visualization, to assist you with grounding. Sit down in a chair in a relaxed position.
It is best done with bare feet that you place flat on the floor, so that you are can feel as connected to the earth as possible.
As you are sitting there, centered, relaxed and at peace, visualize the following..........
As you close your eyes, imagine that you can feel any excess energy you may have in your body moving down your legs, and moving out of your body into the earth.
Now imagine that you are a tree, a beautiful tall, healthy tree. Feel roots descending from the soles of your feet, as you send them down, deep into the earth.
You go deeper and deeper into the cool moist earth, and as you do you begin to take nourishment from it. You feel your roots growing stronger and you feel your life-force energy deepening and strengthening.
You feel a surge of love and gratitude come up through your roots and into the soles of your feet and wrapping its vein tightly around your feet so you feel firmly planted to the ground.
When you are ready you slowly open your eyes. You instinctively know that you can come here as often as you like and do grounding.
